GNS today announces the appointment of Margaret De Francesco to the role of General Manager, Merchandise & Marketing, and as a member of the GNS management team.
Margaret joins GNS from Office Brands, the largest independent business supplies dealer group in Australia, where after a career spanning almost nine years her most recent position was Head of Marketing and Merchandise. In this role she drove the Office Brands group’s commercial success via range expansion, launch of a direct source import program and the implementation of the strategic marketing plan. This included a brand refresh and the expansion into digital marketing and automation.
She also has broad experience and knowledge gained across several areas of the office products industry, having previously worked for WC Penfold & Co, Pentel and Avery Dennison.
Margaret’s appointment recognises the critical role that strong and mutually beneficial partnerships with brand owners and product suppliers plays in GNS’s strategy. In addition, in an industry undergoing significant shifts at present, she will contribute a proven ability to drive and manage complex change.
Commenting on Margaret’s appointment, CEO of GNS Wholesale Paul Yardley said:
“I’m delighted to announce the further strengthening of our senior team today with Margaret’s appointment. Upweighting our capability in merchandise and marketing and working even more closely with suppliers is a critical part of delivering the commercial upside from a wholesale model as our industry continues to evolve. Margaret’s breadth of industry experience and senior leadership roles will add huge value and I’m very excited to be working with her as we continue to drive the evolution of GNS.”
Margaret will be based at the company’s Padstow site in Sydney and will report directly to CEO Paul Yardley. She will start with GNS on 9 October.
